PAINTING

In motion — like a rolling stone.

The work of SLAATS has evolved through distinct phases, each driven by an inner necessity. Her earlier paintings were marked by an expressive use of color and an abundance of form—energetic, open, and unapologetically present.

A shift followed. Influenced by personal circumstances, her work moved towards a more grounded palette and a deeper emotional intensity. Form became weightier, more immersive—carrying the density of lived experience.

This transition led to a defining period of reduction. In her white works, space, material, and restraint became central. The focus shifted from expression to essence—where depth is found not in addition, but in what is left.

Across these phases, one constant remains: a continuous movement within the work itself. As life unfolds, so does her practice—seeking balance between control and surrender, material and meaning.

Her work does not settle into a fixed form, but follows its own course—shaped by time, transformation, and an ongoing search for resonance.
